Abstract


For this years science fair project, I will be testing algae as a biomass and find out what circumstances will make algae grow the fastest. I will have two separate tanks of water, growing algae. One tank will have a small amount of CO2 continuously bubbling in the container while the other will have no CO2. I will then weigh both of these tanks with an accurate scale and determine which of these tanks will make the algae grow the fastest. During the time period of a week, these two tanks will have a continuous amount of light shining down upon them. My whole project is based upon algae as a biomass. Today, we are growing algae and using it as an alternative bio fuel to growing corn for the same purpose. I was very interested in this topic and its feasibility as a bio fuel. This year's science fair provides me with the opportunity to learn more about this topic.
