Abstract

We are doing our science fair project on emotions and blinking. The purpose for our project is to find out if emotions affect our blinkig rate. We found this out by choosing five different genres of emotional videos (scary,sad,happy,funny and action); then we chose 10 people to moniter. we played the videos for one minute each and counted how many times they blinked. we found an average for the total amount, then compared it to the average of each genre.

The average blinking rate for:
scared was 9 blinks per minute;
sad was 10.6 blinks per minute;
happy was 19.5 blinks per minute;
action was 13.2 blinks per minute;
funny was 12.1 blinks per minute.

Over all, our results showed us that when scared or sad you blink the least. and you blink the blink the most when you're experiencing homor action or are happy. our study supports our theory that emotions do effect blinking.
