Abstract


My project is a smoke bomb. The most common smoke bomb is made with Potassium nitrate and suger. When the smoke bomb is burned, the reaction makes white coloured smoke. If powdered organic dye is added, the smoke bomb melts the powdered organic dye so that it produces coloured smoke. The purpose of making a smoke bomb is usually used in military, paintball game, airsoft games and self defense, but you can always make it for fun. The reason why I chose smoke bomb as my project is because it takes such an important role in war and it drew my attention. First you need to mix potassium nitrate and sugar. The total amount should be under 50g because it is easier to mix with the heat and you need 60% of potassium nitrate and 40% of sugar. Put both substances in a plastic container and mix. When those two substances are mixed, set it on a hot plate. Start stiring right away because it can stick to the bottom of the plate. When the mixture turns brown, it is done but when it turns black, it means that your temperature was too high. Scoop out the mixture and insert a small visco safety fuse into the mixture. Wait for it to dry and when it's dry, you can set them on fire and have fun. The smoke bomb will obviously produce smokes and it will start burning from the inside. In conclusion, the smoke bomb is really easy to make with inexpensive materials and you can use it to draw attention and have fun with your friends.
